Sweden 2007

During Sunday night’s 2007 New Year’s concert, the Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna filled the Kalmar hall with the magical sounds of its classical Viennese music. Snow and poor driving conditions were no obstacles for the audience. All dreams came true: beautiful music, graceful dance, and talented soloists. In front of the spectacular backdrop of Schoenbrunn Palace, conductor Guido Mancusi guided the orchestra with playful ease through a number of fantastic works by Strauss. Guido Mancusi’s conducting style is almost picturesque, and he is full of energy, enthusiasm, and humor.

The entertaining musical soiree was completed by three encores [...], including "Shrimp Cocktail", which was composed by Mr. Mancusi, the orchestra’s conductor, who entertained the audience with a variety of jokes.

The Viennese music serves as a reminder that life is a celebration.
[The] string quartet [...] creates an effervescent mood.
Mr. Mancusi is also a composer, and he invited us to enjoy "The Viennese" which is, as he calls it, a flowing and a – as he likes to call it – enjoyable, gently flowing "waltz for the Swedish people".

On Sunday night, when I stepped into the snow-covered street after the concert, my heart was filled with joy […]
The Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna from Vienna created a magical atmosphere during this year’s New Year’s concert, which will linger in the air for a long time.
Just like last year, the soprano Agneta Eichenholz [...] and the baritone Georg Lehner [...] the audience with their delightful voices and a beautiful, well-balanced dramatic presentation.
It was, in particular, the joy and esprit of the concert presentation that made this evening into a positive and sensual concert experience for the attendees. The audience expressed its gratitude with standing ovations after the final waltz "The Blue Danube", which was presented with Viennese elegance.
In addition to the fantastic singers and dancers, the excellent palace orchestra was the icing on the cake.

The conductor, Mr. Mancusi, directed his musicians with a steady hand and demonstrated his outstanding abilities not only as a conductor, but also as an actor during his humorous segments.
The concert concluded with standing ovations. Everyone in the audience was truly moved by what they were able to hear and see this evening.
In summing up this evening, I can only say, from the bottom of my heart: welcome back!
